PrivacyLens – Privacy Policy

Overview

PrivacyLens is designed to protect identities in videos by applying pixelation to faces either in real time while recording or when processing saved videos. The app performs all detection and processing entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell personal data.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No photos, videos, or audio leave your device.
• No face data, faceprints, templates, or biometric identifiers are collected or stored.
• No account creation; we do not collect names, emails, or contact info in-app.
• No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

App Store disclosure: No Data Collected.

Face Data

What is processed: PrivacyLens uses Apple’s on-device frameworks (e.g., Vision, Core Image, AVFoundation) to detect the location of faces in a video frame. This information (face bounding boxes) exists only in memory to apply the pixelation effect.

Collection: PrivacyLens does not collect face data. No faceprints/templates/biometrics are created.

Use: The sole purpose is to determine where to apply pixelation to obscure faces for privacy.

Sharing: Face detection results are not shared with third parties and are never transmitted off the device.

Storage & Retention: Detection results are not stored. They are transient in memory during processing and discarded immediately after the frame is rendered.

Summary: PrivacyLens does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share face data. All face detection is processed locally and discarded after use.

How Processing Works

PrivacyLens processes each frame locally using Apple system frameworks. When you record or choose a video:

• Faces are detected on-device to obtain bounding boxes.
• A pixelation filter is applied over those regions.
• The output is written to your Photos library if you grant permission.

No cloud services are used; no media or metadata is uploaded.

Permissions

• Camera: to record videos with real-time pixelation.
• Microphone: to capture audio while recording (optional).
• Photo Library (Read): to select existing videos for pixelation.
• Photo Library (Add/Write): to save the processed pixelated videos back to your library.

You can change these permissions anytime in Settings > Privacy on your device.

Data Retention

We do not retain personal data. Media you save remains in your Photos library under your control. Deleting the app does not delete items saved to Photos.

Children’s Privacy

PrivacyLens does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Parents/guardians should manage device permissions and sharing settings.

Security

Local-only processing minimizes exposure. Keep your device updated and use device-level protections (passcode/Face ID/Touch ID).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
